Samajik Seva Sadan is committed to promote, facilitate, conduct and co-ordinate development activities in professional and scientific manner aiming at the sustainable development specially that of the Tribals and Dalits in Target Area. Accordingly the Organization has adopted the strategy to organize and empower the rural population to work together in a real sense of fraternity for sustained growth to make them masters of their own destiny cutting across the barriers of caste, creed and religion. Poverty is the root cause of hunger, illiteracy, ill health, lack of shelter, inaccessibility to drinking water & sanitation, lack of purchasing power and several other forms of human misery. For a dignified human existence it is essential to alleviate poverty. According to SSS conceptualization, all the anti-poverty programmes thereto culminate into self propelled community processes with ‘Justice to Fellowman and sustainable management of Natural Resources’. In every respect the Organization stands committed to the Sustainable Development of Target Population.

On 26th January 1988 (within 3 years of its registration) Samajik Seva Sadan was awarded by Youth Welfare Board, Odisha for being the best Active Voluntary Organization in Odisha. On 15th August 1994 we received an appreciation from District Administration for our active and effective implementation of Total Literacy Campaign (TLC)

Organization grow in the service of people covering large areas and finally covering the whole of Sadar Block in Dhenkanal with its Non-formal Education program from 1988 to 2001 running 210 NFE centres in 200 villages.

From 1993 to 2002, Samajik Seva Sadan took up an integrated development project in Dhenkanal covering 48 Adivasi & Dalits villages promoting group organizations, education, health & economical growth of the people and this was an achievement.

During the period from 1993 to 2008, Samajik Seva Sadan has implemented a project for Rehabilitation of Leprosy affected people in Dhenkanal with an aim to dignify their living standard in the society. SSS could change their attitude and convert them from being beggars to people who do jobs, running grocery shops and keeping goats & cows  as Income Generation Activities besides, kitchen gardening.

Samajik Seva Sadan expanded its field of action to Sundargarh District in the year 1998 with door to door meeting of people. SSS had started a small project at Subdega Block for forming SHGs and federating them into a Self Help Cooperative and registered under SH Cooperative Act 2001 of the Government of Odisha. From 2005, SSS spread its activity from 2 Gram Panchayats to 4 Gram Panchayats covering 68 villages / hamlets and formed 224 SHGs. In 2007, 4 Self Help Cooperatives were registered. 

In 2010 SSS started an Industrial Training Institute named as Gangpur Industrial Training Centre (GITC) in Subdega Block of Sundargarh District in Odisha. This is to stop the migration of educated youth going to big cities in search of petty jobs. 

Today Samajik Seva Sadan is in most of the Committees and Societies constituted by the District Administration and Samajik Seva Sadan work in the project area with full support of its Target people and the District Administration
