District Environment Project


During the period in 1992 to 1995, Samajik Seva Sadan has implemented a project titled as ”Dhenkanal District Industrial Pollution Control Action Project” in Undivided Dhenkanal District with involvement & support of 22 Net-work NGOs, who organized 800 villages in periphery of NALCO, FCI, TTPS and Mining areas of Talcher (now in Angul District) and  fought to combat pollution so that the Industries  & Mining Houses had to follow the minimum standard prescribed  by the Pollution Control Board, Government of Odisha. The Project received International appreciation.


Watershed Project

The Watershed Project was started in 1997, implemented with 4 villages of Saptasajya G.P. This was a people’s project of 4 small hamlets at the northern side of Saptasajya Hillock. The main objectives of this project are soil conservation, water resource development (Dam, canal, pond, pipeline & well) & uncultivated land development by providing irrigation facilities. Securing full year work for people, animal and forest development, Self Help Group formation and different Income Generation Activities such as Mushroom cultivation was under taken. Another major work was to plant 24000 numbers of saplings in waste land and made a green belt.
